Real Change: Real Freedom

Jorgensen/cohen 2020

As America's largest third party, founded in 1971, the Libertarian Party espouses both economic liberty (lowering taxes and eliminating bureaucratic regulations) and personal liberty (each person should be free to make their own choices, provided that they do not infringe on the rights of others). Republicans and Democrats may say that this is what they want, but the two old parties no longer even make a pretense of delivering on their promises.  They demonize one another as they further polarize our country and fail to solve the problems we currently face, while all the time playing their political games to retain their hold on power.  Libertarianism is based on two basic principles: the non-aggression principle ("don't hurt people and don't take their stuff" and the principle of self-ownership ("live and let live").  These principles are not merely a philosophy; translating them into action brings forth solutions that are not only based on mutual respect for one another, but that are efficient and effective, and can result in vast improvements in our society and our economy.
